Sorry, been a while.

December was amazing. more than double my projection. now I just need to keep it up.

I am posting today to make sure everybody is aware of the situation with Rick Olney and TightLip Entertainment. Apparently he has contracted with some creators for work, including Chuck Dixon, and then has not paid. I first heard about it on Lying in the Gutters

Here January 8, 2007

Here January 1, 2007

Here November 6, 2006

And Gail Simone has a forum thread here

I just wanted to help make people aware. (This was not meant to be underlined)

Merry X-Mas, all!

Well, I hope everyone got everything they wanted. I am just happy for 2 days off in a row.

Business at the store has been absolutely amazing. I don't know if I am making money yet, but I am far exceeding my sales estimates. But on the flip side, the Diamond bills have been huge as well.

So, things had calmed down yesterday, my son was sleeping and my daughter deeply ingrossed in something she had gotten. So I pulled out the new Wizard. And got very depressed. Apparently Joe Quesada has decided that he can draw 4 issues in one month. After taking over 2 years to complete the last issues of Daredevil: Father. Well, at least it's going to be another mini-series, right? Nope, he is going to take over all three Spider-Man titles for the grand JMS finale. So if he starts now, he should be done around August, 2008.

Why do they play with us so?

On a side note, I hope to have a new blog up and running and a new website all my own very very soon.

See ya!

Oh Dear!

Crap! Sales have been great. The weekend was good. But I just got my Diamond invoice for next week and it is almost $2000 and I am now having panic attacks. Plus it just turned really cold and snowy. Oh, please let the rest of the month be good.

The reason for my concern is that I do not see the credit card money until the middle of the following month. So I will not see the money for 60% of my sales until the middle of January. Unfortunately the credit card stuff is beyond my control, so I guess I will have to find a way around this.

Hmmmm

What a business!!!

Every single day amazes me. The store is doing above and beyond my wildest dreams. And the best part is that I do not think that it is due to Christmas. Yes, many of my sales are presents, but I do not think that the majority are. Friday here in Pittsburgh was a bizzarre combination of plummetting temperatures and extraordinarily high winds. Some of the siding blew off my my house. But I still did 50% better than I had hoped for an average day on my Busness Plan. Now, true, those numbers were pretty much made up, but I did not forsee the solid increase in sales I have been seeing. And this is with 0 (zero) advertising. Just a sign.

This weekend is the big Christmas Toy Show. I had to leave early (but I had someone covering my tables). It was going wonderfully. I should have the rent covered this weekend. I was always worried about making the rent. Last month I had it in by the 5th and this month it will probably be in by the 3rd. Unbelievable. My brother-in-law Dan is wathcing the store and had a huge day today. Hopefully tomorrow will be the same.

I'll update later when the weekend is done with some final thoughts.

WOW

I had hoped for a big weekend. I promoted a big sale and asked publishers for givaway stuff (Thanks DC, Devil's Due, Top Shelf, Asylum, Wizards fo the Coast and WizKids!!!). I hoped to do $1000 over the weekend. I already passed Octobers sales on Monday, so this was going great. Well, Wednesday was HUGE. My biggest day yet. I really didn't know what to expect on Friday.

Friday doubled Wednesday. Holy crap! I already made my goal for the weekend.

I officially really think this is going to work.

Still in Business, Doing Great!

Sorry it's been so long. Busy busy busy. Which is good.
I have a bunch of regulars and I have been able to recruit 1 (hey Travis) to fill in when my mother-in-law has been unable to watch the kids.

The Summit was good. Lots of ideas and free goodies.

Here are some new pics. Sign is up and inside is pretty much done. I'm still waiting for gamers to come to do late night gaming.

Sales are great. I covered the rent in the first 5 days, so now I am just working on the Diamond bills. They are still big because I am getting more and more trades every week.

Civil War 5 comes out tomorrow, so the store should be busy. Yea!
