I'm BackSorry for not posting in so long. I've had a lot going on. Finally left my job at the end of July, had friends in for a week and then went on our last vacation for a very long time. Now it is time to get down to business.
Back to the store. I did sign the lease for the oddly shaped store. It is affordable, visible from the street, and a really funky shape. Not you usual rectangular store. It is half painted. I will take some pictures tomorrow before I finish. The nail place next door had all of there stuff in it for the longest time, so all you would have seen were shrink wrapped chairs and boxes. No too exciting. Now you will see half painted walls and construction equipment. Ooooh I can feel your anticipation.
I may be renaming the blog because Dynamic Duo is no longer the name. It never really fit once Dan let me know that he would be able to help, but would not be going in with me. Granted, I could lose some weight, but I am not quite a "Duo". I came to an arrangement with a local dealer and I will be running his newest store -
New Dimension Comics - McMurray. It is really a great situation for me because I get to run a Comic Book Store and avoid many of the new guy mistakes that put new businesses under so quickly. So basically I will have guidance, but still get to make the decisions and make it the way I want it. Pretty cool.
Now I just have to find the shelving I want. I was going to order it online, but the shipping was just about the same as the cost of the materials. Yikes!
One midly humorous note for me regarding the Civil War delays. Where most retailers are bemoaning the delay, I am happy because no I can carry the books that have been delayed. It was pointed out to me that it would be silly to open in September and have the August books. Most people who wanted them will already have them and I would be starting with stuff I couldn't sell.
Oh, did I mention this yet? My first day open will be Thursday, Sept 7. That is the day the first books come out in Sept. I was going to open Sept 1, but that was right before a holiday weekend
